Dr. Janice E. Nevin to Serve as 黑料导航 Commencement Speaker and Honorary Doctorate Recipient
WINSTON-SALEM, NC (APRIL 12, 2023)鈥擩anice E. Nevin, MD, MPH will offer the commencement address at 黑料导航鈥檚 commencement on Saturday, May 6 at 10 a.m. in the outdoor May Dell on the school鈥檚 campus. Dr. Nevin will also receive an honorary doctorate of humane letters at the ceremony. A visionary and collaborative health care leader, Nevin serves as president and CEO of ChristianaCare, one of the country鈥檚 most dynamic health care organizations. ChristianaCare is centered on improving health outcomes, making high-quality care more accessible and lowering health care costs.
鈥満诹系己 is honored that Dr. Nevin has graciously agreed to speak at our upcoming commencement ceremony,鈥 Salem Academy and College President Summer Johnson McGee, Ph.D., CPH said. 鈥淲ith Salem鈥檚 emphasis on health leadership, Dr. Nevin is a stellar example of the kind of leaders in health we believe our graduates aspire to be. She is an ideal person to share insight from her career as one of the country鈥檚 leading healthcare executives. Salem has enjoyed a strong relationship with ChristianaCare for the last couple years, and we look forward to welcoming Dr. Nevin to our campus to inspire Salem鈥檚 graduates as they prepare to leave our campus and begin the next exciting chapter in their lives.鈥
Nevin is nationally recognized as a pioneer and thought leader in value-based care and population health and for her assertion that truly great health care is built on the values of love and excellence. These values are exemplified in her commitment to health equity and anti-racism, and to improving health, making high-quality care more accessible and lowering health care costs.
Modern Healthcare selected Nevin as one of its 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives in 2020, 2021 and 2022 in addition to naming her to the publication鈥檚 Top 25 Women Leaders in 2019, 2022 and 2023. The Philadelphia Business Journal included her on its 2022 and 2023 Power 100, a list of the region鈥檚 most influential leaders, and named her one of its 2022 Most Admired CEOs.
She serves on the board of trustees of the American Hospital Association (AHA) and is a member of the AHA Committee on Maternal and Child Health. Nevin is treasurer of the board of directors of America鈥檚 Essential Hospitals and a member of the organization鈥檚 executive committee.
Nevin graduated from Harvard University and earned her medical degree with honors from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. She completed her family medicine residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and her Master of Public Health degree at the University of Pittsburgh.
If case of severe weather, 黑料导航鈥檚 commencement will be moved indoors to the Hanes Auditorium in Salem Academy and College鈥檚 Elberson Fine Arts Center.
