Salem Academy and College to Host Third Health Leadership Forum
Attendees Can Receive Continuing Education Credit from Northwest AHEC
WINSTON-SALEM, NC (OCT. 2, 2023)鈥擲alem Academy and College will host its third Health Leadership Forum on Friday, October 20 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Hanes Auditorium at Salem鈥檚聽, located at 412 Rams Drive in Winston-Salem. The Forum will feature women in health leadership roles from across the nation and will discuss trends in health and health leadership and offer attendees opportunities for networking while hearing from some of the nation鈥檚 most widely recognized experts and innovators in their fields.

鈥淧articipants who attend Salem Academy and College鈥檚 Health Leadership Forum will have the opportunity to interpret and discuss a wide range of health issues associated with current practice or educational goals. In addition, they will be able to leverage education and leadership experiences to enhance growth and development of future leaders in health,鈥 Salem Academy and College President聽, Ph.D., CPH said. 鈥淲e are particularly excited to have Northwest AHEC as a partner to provide credit hours to attendees.鈥
The Forum begins at 9 a.m. on October 20 with a welcome from McGee followed by the keynote address, which is being presented as a Katherine Graham Howard A鈥1913, C鈥1917 lecture. The Katherine Graham Howard fund was established for visits to 黑料导航 by distinguished leaders in public and international affairs. Howard served in federal agencies during the Eisenhower administration.
The Katherine Graham Howard keynote address鈥攅ntitled 鈥淟eading to Serve in Health Care, Public Health, and Policy: Embrace the Joys and Challenges鈥濃攚ill be presented by聽, MD, MPH, MPA, associate dean for health equity at Dell Medical School of the University of Texas at Austin.
Following the keynote address, the first morning panel begins at 10 a.m. and will feature a discussion called 鈥淭he Lifespan of the Mind: Experiences and Adaptation,鈥 which will be moderated by Salem faculty member聽. The panel includes聽, MD, Ph.D., psychiatrist in chief at Boston Children鈥檚 Hospital;聽, Ph.D., M.A.T., founder and director of Opening Minds through Art, an intergenerational art program for people living with dementia; and聽, LCMHC, who works with Hispanic clients concerning acculturation and cultural adaptation.
The second morning panel begins at 10:50 a.m. and will focus on 鈥淲omen鈥檚 Leadership in Clinical and Life Sciences Research,鈥 moderated by聽聽C鈥99, client oversight manager for Clinical Global Supplies. The panel includes聽聽A鈥08, C鈥12, Ph.D., senior research and development scientist for Cambrex;聽, Ph.D., associate professor at the Yale School of Medicine, founding president of Bioethics International, and director of the Good Pharma Scorecard;聽, Ph.D., director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences Office of Human Research and Community Engagement; and聽, Ph.D., MPH, senior epidemiologist/research manager for the Public Health Institute/Cancer Registry of Greater California.
Salem鈥檚 Health Leadership Forum will include a closing panel moderated by McGee, which will feature a discussion called 鈥淧athways to Success: Women Leading in Health鈥 and will include all the morning鈥檚 speakers.
The Health Leadership Forum concludes with a networking luncheon in Salem鈥檚 Corrin Refectory dining hall from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m.
