Position Summary

Salem Academy & College seeks a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and mission-driven professional to serve as Associate Athletic Director. This position plays a key leadership role in advancing the strategic vision of Salem Athletics through revenue generation, operational excellence, facility oversight, and brand visibility. The Associate Athletic Director will collaborate across Academy and College programs to enhance the student-athlete experience while strengthening community engagement and institutional growth.

This is a highly visible leadership role requiring initiative, organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

1. Director of Athletic Camps & Clinics

Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive camps and clinics strategy for Academy and College programs during academic breaks and summer.

  • Identify new camp opportunities aligned with institutional strengths and market demand.
  • Manage budgets, pricing models, marketing strategies, and registration systems.
  • Partner with coaches to maximize participation and revenue.
  • Utilize camps and clinics as enrollment and community engagement tools.
  • Track financial performance and provide regular reports to the Director of Athletics.

 

2. Game Day Operations

Oversee all home game operations for Academy and College athletics.

  • Greet Officials and opponents, as well as prepare locker room
  • Ensure playing surfaces are prepared for competition
  • Deliver a high-quality fan and student-athlete experience.
  • Assist with game operation
  • Collaborate on game promotions, special events, and community outreach initiatives.

 

3. Travel & Transportation Coordination

  • Drive 15- Passenger Vans for Salem Academy & College when needed to support travel

 

4. Athletic Facilities Oversight- Assist with operation

  • Oversee daily operational readiness of all athletic facilities.
  • Submit and monitor work orders and repair requests.
  • Ensure facilities meet safety standards and support recruitment and community engagement efforts.

 

5. Strength & Conditioning Coach

  • Design and implement strength and conditioning programs for Academy and College student-athletes.
  • Provide sport-specific performance development.
  • Promote injury prevention, recovery, and wellness initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with best practices in athletic performance and safety.
  • Collaborate with student-life twice a month on a fitness class for the campus community

 

6. Corporate Sponsorship & Revenue Support

  • Assist the Director of Athletics in identifying and securing corporate sponsorship opportunities.
  • Develop sponsorship packages and community partnerships.
  • Maintain relationships with corporate partners and sponsors.
  • Support revenue growth initiatives aligned with departmental goals.

 

7. Athletic Booster Club Oversight

  • Lead and manage the Athletic Booster Club.
  • Develop strategies to increase membership and engagement.
  • Coordinate fundraising initiatives and booster communications.
  • Strengthen alumni and parent engagement in athletics through collaboration with Alumnae Office

 

8. Facility Rentals & Site Supervision

Serve as site supervisor for athletic facility rentals when there are no conflicts with internal athletic events.

  • Coordinate event logistics with the Director of Special Events & Community Outreach
  • Ensure rental activities generate revenue while protecting institutional assets.
  • Maintain positive relationships with community organizations.
  • Attend and be prepared to represent Athletics in the Campus Events Meeting

 

9. Athletic Special Events

  • Plan and oversee special athletic events designed to generate revenue and community engagement. (Coaches Clinic, MS/HS Winter Athletic Competition/Classic, Beach Volleyball Adult Tournament)
  • Develop creative event concepts aligned with the Salem brand.
  • Manage budgets, marketing, and operational logistics.
  • Evaluate financial and engagement outcomes.

 

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in athletics administration.
  • Demonstrated experience in event management and revenue generation.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Experience in strength and conditioning certification.
  • Experience in facilities management or capital project coordination.
  • Revenue Generation experience.

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics and works closely with Academy and College coaches, campus leadership, facilities management, admissions, and advancement teams.

Physical Functions

While performing the responsibilities of the Associate Athletic Director the employee is required to sit for varying lengths of time; bend, reach, lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds; occasionally stand, walk, and kneel and regularly ascend/descend stairs; use hands and fingers to handle or feel and manipulate keys on a keyboard; perform extended periods of work at a computer workstation, view a computer monitor; perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and receive detailed information through oral communication; express and exchange ideas by means of spoken word; and work in an office setting.
